Athletes who earn All World Athlete status are automatically enrolled in the AWA program.

All IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 athletes earn Age Group Ranking points (AGR) upon completion of an IRONMAN branded race. AGR points will accumulate over the course of the calendar year.  The top 3 race performances will be added together to create each athlete’s score. Since the top three race performances are ranked the more an athlete races the better their chances of earning AWA status.

AWA status is given to the athletes in each age group with the top 17% of AGR points, with the top 2% earning AWA Gold Status, the top 5% earning AWA Silver Status, and the top 10% earning AWA Bronze Status. The point threshold for earning AWA status changes each year due to the dynamic nature of the AGR system.

The AGR point system awards the top performer in each age group with the maximum points and the points given to each finisher behind the leader will diminish by a set amount each minute, depending on the race distance, until the point floor is reached.

IRONMAN All World Athletes (AWA) enjoy a variety of on-site benefits at most races, including priority bike racking position, priority AWA packet pickup line at athlete check-in, AWA logo on swim cap and race bib and acknowledgement on the event website.  Additionally, AWA athletes gain early access to registering for many of the high-demand races.  Gold AWA athletes are treated to a special welcome breakfast at the World Championship events.

For a full list of benefits for AWA athletes please visit: https://www.ironman.com/all-world-athlete

All World Athlete status is awarded annually, typically in mid to late January, and is based on performance from the previous calendar year (i.e. a 2023 AWA athlete earned their status from their 2022 race performances).

All athletes can check their past AWA rankings as well as their projected status for the current year at https://www.ironman.com/all-world-athlete-agr

Click on the desired links on the right side of the page and search for your name to see where you rank.

Race results must be deemed official before Age Group Ranking (AGR) points are calculated and assigned, which typically happens within 7 days of each race, but can take several weeks in some circumstances. If it has been more than 3 weeks since your race and your AGR points are missing or there are races not included in your athlete profile, please open a ticket and provide the following information:

  • Full Name (as it appears in your race registration)
  • Email address (used when registering for races)
  • Date of birth (Month/ Day/ Year)
  • What race is missing (year, distance location, i.e. 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 Florida)
  • Bib number from the race
  • Any other information that would be helpful in locating your result (i.e. other names used in registration, other email addresses, registration errors, etc.)

Ensure any missing race result requests are submitted before December 13 of the current racing year.  This will allow enough time for requests to be resolved, by our team, before the season-end points calculation and ranking is finalized. Once results are finalized All World Athlete status cannot be awarded retrospectively.

Please create a ticket by clicking on "Contact Us".

Congratulations on your AWA status!

Though not a guaranteed part of the program, we love to provide a small welcome pack to All World Athletes that is a celebration of your hard work and a little way to show off your status.

For athletes that earned status in 2020 (based on racing activity within the 2019 calendar year), Welcome Packs are currently on indefinite hold due to the impact of the global pandemic.

While we don’t have an ETA for pack shipment to begin, we ask that you please visit your athlete profile at IRONMAN.com and ensure that you have a valid address included, which is suitable to receive mail. Inputting an address here does not over-ride details on your master athlete record and will be used purely for pack mailing purposes.

When shipping begins we will only be mailing to the athletes that have provided an updated and valid address. This approach is being taken to reduce the volume of returned and lost packages experienced in prior years.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Early entry/ priority entry is one of the great benefits offered to athletes who earn AWA status. Early entry is offered for the majority of IRONMAN-owned high demand races and typically includes all full distance IRONMAN races, quick to sell and new 70.3 races, however the races offered can vary by region.

Please note that Priority entry does NOT guarantee any specific pricing tier or ability to register before a sell-out. In order to receive early entry notifications, athletes must have 2019 AWA status (based on 2018 AGR performance), be opted in to receive email from IRONMAN, and be subscribed to “Announcements”.

To subscribe, visit http://content.ironman.com/Subscribe-to-IRONMAN.html. Please note that submission of the subscription form will overwrite your previous subscriptions, so be sure to select all Subscription Preferences that you would like to continue to receive.

If you believe that you should have received an early entry link to a race, and you did not get it, please open a ticket and provide the following information:

  • Full Name (as it appears in your race registration)
  • Email address (used when registering for races)
  • Date of birth (Month/ Day/ Year)
  • Name of the event in which you are requesting early entry
